NEXTSTEP(R)のルック&フィールを似せたウィンドウマネージャ
The AfterStep window manager combines convenient, useful features
with the attractive look of the NEXTSTEP(R) interface. NEXTSTEP(R)-style
features include the the title bar, title buttons, borders, icons and
menus. The most prominent addition to the interface is AfterStep's
Wharf, a customized version of the GoodStuff panel (an fvwm window
manager bar of application icons). AfterStep's Wharf is afree-floating
application loader which can swallow running programs and contain
folders of more applications. AfterStep also includes easy to use
'look' files, so you can share your desktop appearance.
You need to install AfterStep if you want to use the AfterStep window
manager. You should also install AfterStep and try it out if you haven't
decided which X Window System window manager you want to use, or just to
keep your window management options open.

The AfterStep-APPS package includes a group of applications for use
with the AfterStep window manager. Applications in this package
include an Advanced Power Management system monitor for laptops (asapm),
a CPU load monitor (ascpu), a simple state machine (asexec), a
filesystem monitor (asfsm), a CPU load monitor for use with the PROC
filesystem (asload), a mail checker (asmail), a memory utilization
monitor (asmem), a volume controller knob for the /dev/mixer device
(asmix), a volume controller for various sound inputs (asmixer), a
modem status monitor (asmodem), an analog clock (astime), and a color
VT102 emulator (aterm).
Install AfterStep-APPS if you're planning to use the AfterStep window
manager.

A 3-D graphics library with an API very similar to OpenGL.
The Mesa 3-D graphics library is a powerful and generic toolset
for creating hardware assisted computer graphics. To the extent that Mesa
utilizes the OpenGL command syntax or state machine, it is being used with
authorization from Silicon Graphics, Inc. However, the author (Brian Paul)
makes no claim that Mesa is in any way a compatible replacement for OpenGL
or associated with Silicon Graphics, Inc. Those who want a licensed
implementation of OpenGL should contact a licensed vendor. However, Mesa is
very similar to OpenGL, and you might find Mesa to be a valid alternative to
OpenGL.
You guessed it, demonstration programs for the Mesa 3-D graphics library.
Mesa-demos contains demonstration programs for the Mesa 3-D
graphics library (a graphics toolkit very similar to Silicon Graphics'
OpenGL). You don't need to install mesa-demos if you're upgrading from a
previous version of Mesa, or if you just aren't interested in the
demonstrations. If you're new to Mesa, however, you should install them
along with the mesa package.
The development environment for the Mesa 3-D graphics library.
Mesa-devel contains the static version of the Mesa 3-D graphics
library (a graphics toolkit very similar to Silicon Graphics' OpenGL
graphics utilities toolkit) and includes files needed for development. If

GLUT is a window system independent toolkit for writing small to
medium-sized OpenGL programs. OpenGL is a Silicon Graphics, Inc., graphics
utilities toolkit. Since Mesa (a graphics library) is very similar to
OpenGL, OpenGL programs will work with Mesa.
GLUT is well-suited for learning OpenGL and developing simple OpenGL
applications, but it is not a full-featured toolkit. If you're interested
in creating large applications requiring sophisticated user interfaces,
you're probably better off using a native window system toolkit like Motif.
If you're interested in learning how to create OpenGL applications or in
creating small and simple OpenGL applications, you should install mesa-glut
along with mesa and possibly mesa-demos. You may also want to install
mesa-devel, which provides a development environment for Mesa programming.
The GLUT (OpenGL Utility Toolkit) development environment for Mesa/OpenGL 3-D graphics.
Mesa-glut-devel contains the static version of the GLUT (OpenGL
Utility Toolkit) library and includes files needed for GLUT development.

You should install mesa-glut-devel if you want to develop GLUT programs. If

possibly mesa-demos. If you also want to develop Mesa applications, you
need to also install mesa-devel.
MySQL: a very fast and reliable SQL database engine
MySQL is a true multi-user, multi-threaded SQL (Structured Query
Language) database server. MySQL is a client/server implementation
that consists of a server daemon (mysqld) and many different client
programs/libraries.
The main goals of MySQL are speed, robustness and ease of use. MySQL
was originally developed because we needed a SQL server that could
handle very big databases with magnitude higher speed than what any
database vendor could offer to us. And since we did not need all the
features that made their server slow we made our own. We have now been
using MySQL since 1996 in a environment with more than 40 databases,
10,000 tables, of which more than 500 have more than 7 million
rows. This is about 200G of data.
The base upon which MySQL is built is a set of routines that have been
used in a highly demanding production environment for many
years. While MySQL is still in development, it already offers a rich
and highly useful function set.

Blackbox - an X11 Window manager
Blackboxは、X11R6用のウィンドウ・マネージャの一つです。
Blackboxは、他のウィンドウ・マネージャとの共通のコードを使用せずに、
C++でスクラッチから書かれています。
(Window Makerのグラフィックの実装を参考にしていますが)
また、このパッケージでは、デフォルトのメニューをVine Linux用に

The cdecl package includes the cdecl and c++decl utilities, which are
used to translate English to C or C++ function declarations and vice
versa.
You should install the cdecl package if you intend to do C and/or C++

Dosemu is a DOS emulator. Once you've installed dosemu, start the DOS
emulator by typing in the dos command.
You need to install dosemu if you use DOS programs and you want to be
able to run them on your Red Hat Linux system. You may also need to
install the dosemu-freedos package.
A FreeDOS hdimage for dosemu, a DOS emulator, to use.
Generally, the dosemu DOS emulator requires either that your system
have some version of DOS available or that your system's partitions
were formatted and installed with DOS. If your system does not meet
either of the previous requirements, you can instead use the dosemu-
freedos package, which contains an hdimage file which will be
installed in the /var/lib/dosemu directory. The hdimage file is
already bootable with FreeDOS.
You will need to edit your /etc/dosemu.conf file to add the
image to the list of disk 'drives' used by dosemu.
Install dosemu-freedos if you are installing the dosemu package, but
you don't have a version of DOS available on your system, and your
system's partitions were not formatted and installed with DOS.

Shared Memory Abstraction Library
The MM library is a 2-layer abstraction library which simplifies the usage of
shared memory between forked (and this way strongly related) processes under
Unix platforms. On the first layer it hides all platform dependent
implementation details (allocation and locking) when dealing with shared
memory segments and on the second layer it provides a high-level malloc(3)-
style API for a convenient and well known way to work with data-structures
inside those shared memory segments.
The library is released under the term of an open-source (BSD-style) license
because it's originally written for a proposed use inside next versions of
the Apache webserver as a base library for providing shared memory pools to
Apache modules (because currently Apache modules can only use heap-allocated
memory which isn't shared accross the pre-forked server processes). The
requirement actually comes from comprehensive modules like mod_ssl, mod_perl
and mod_php which would benefit a lot from easy to use shared memory pools.
Mostly all functionality (except for shared locks in addition to exclusive
locks and multi-segment memory areas instead of single-segment memory areas)
is already implemented and the library already works fine under FreeBSD,
Linux and Solaris and should also adjust itself for most other Unix platforms
with it's GNU Autoconf and GNU Libtool based configuration and compilation
procedure.

easy for developers to write dynamically generated web pages. PHP
also offers built-in database integration for several commercial and
non-commercial database management systems, so writing a
database-enabled web page with PHP is fairly simple. The most common
use of PHP coding is probably as a replacement for CGI scripts. The
mod_php module enables the Apache web server to understand and process
the embedded PHP language in web pages.
This package contains PHP version 4.0. You'll also need to install the
Apache web server.

Mpg123 is a fast, free and portable MPEG audio player for Unix.
It supports MPEG 1.0/2.0 layers 1, 2 and 3 ("mp3" files). For
full CD quality playback (44 kHz, 16 bit, stereo) a Pentium CPU
is required. Mono and/or reduced quality playback (22 kHz or
11 kHz) is possible on 486 CPUs.

Programs to control tape device operations.
The mt-st package contains the mt and st tape drive management
programs. Mt (for magnetic tape drives) and st (for SCSI tape devices)
can control rewinding, ejecting, skipping files and blocks and more.
Install mt-st if you need a tool to manage tape drives.

download time). Rpmfind can then even download the packages for you.

freefonts - collection of free ATM fonts
This is a collection of 79 freely available fonts. All of them were found in
the CICA archives for Windows.
Some of them are missing special characters, some only contain capitals,
some contain special alphabets. Be careful and check!
The collection was motivated by the lack of good fonts for Linux especially X11
and ghostscript. Scaled bitmaps look really ugly!

The AfterStep window manager combines convenient, useful features
with the attractive look of the NEXTSTEP(R) interface. NEXTSTEP(R)-style
features include the the title bar, title buttons, borders, icons and
menus. The most prominent addition to the interface is AfterStep's
Wharf, a customized version of the GoodStuff panel (an fvwm window
manager bar of application icons). AfterStep's Wharf is afree-floating
application loader which can swallow running programs and contain
folders of more applications. AfterStep also includes easy to use
'look' files, so you can share your desktop appearance.
You need to install AfterStep if you want to use the AfterStep window
manager. You should also install AfterStep and try it out if you haven't
decided which X Window System window manager you want to use, or just to
keep your window management options open.

The Mesa 3-D graphics library is a powerful and generic toolset
for creating hardware assisted computer graphics. To the extent that Mesa
utilizes the OpenGL command syntax or state machine, it is being used with
authorization from Silicon Graphics, Inc. However, the author (Brian Paul)
makes no claim that Mesa is in any way a compatible replacement for OpenGL
or associated with Silicon Graphics, Inc. Those who want a licensed
implementation of OpenGL should contact a licensed vendor. However, Mesa is
very similar to OpenGL, and you might find Mesa to be a valid alternative to
OpenGL.
You guessed it, demonstration programs for the Mesa 3-D graphics library.
Mesa-demos contains demonstration programs for the Mesa 3-D
graphics library (a graphics toolkit very similar to Silicon Graphics'
OpenGL). You don't need to install mesa-demos if you're upgrading from a

X11 上で動作するグラフ作成ツール
plotmtv は科学データを可視可する高速で使いやすいプログラムです．
MTVDATフォーマットのデータを読み込み，データファイル中の各デー

zmodem/ymodem/xmodem package built from the public-domain version of the
rzsz package. Lrzsz was created to provide a working GNU copylefted
Zmodem solution for Linux systems.
You should install lrzsz if you're also installing a Zmodem communications
program that uses lrzsz. If you're installing minicom, you need to install
lrzsz.

(POV-ray) is based on David Buck's original ray tracer, DKB-Trace.
POV-ray is currently developed and supported by members of CompuServe
Graphics Developers' Forum. The first stage of the process is
describing what you want to depict, either by using an interactive
modeling system like a CAD package, or by creating a text file which
uses a programming language-like syntax to describe the elements of
the image. In both cases, you have to specify the objects, their
shape, their location, their color, their texture and their
illumination. Then you input the information to the raytracer program
and wait (and wait and wait...raytracing isn't speedy) for its
output (the image).
